History

Although track had been laid through the site by the London, Tilbury & Southend Railway in 1854, it wasn’t until the Tottenham & Forest Gate Railway built their line in 1894 that Woodgrange Park Station was constructed and opened, alongside a short spur line to East Ham.  Nothing of further note occurred until 1958, when the spur to East Ham was closed.  This was followed by the electrification of the line through the station in 1962 as part of the upgrade works to the London, Tilbury & Southend Line, allowing limited electrified passenger services (non-stop) and freight trains to pass from the LTS line to the Great Eastern Mainline.

The station’s platform buildings were demolished in the 1970s with a new ticket office being provided at street level, although this too was closed and demolished in the late 1990s with staff accommodation being provided in the form of Portacabins at platform level.  Operation of the station passed from Silverlink to London Overground in 2007, with the signature upgrades and modifications typical of LOROL being applied to the station, including ticket barriers, which were installed in new covered entrances at platform level in 2016.
