History

Crouch Hill Station was opened in 1868 by the Tottenham and Hampstead Junction Railway on it’s line from Tottenham North Junction to Highgate Road.  In January 1870, the T&HJR service ceased and Crouch Hill closed, however, in October of the same year, a branch line was opened by the Midland Railway to Kentish Town, allowing trains to run from Moorgate and thus reopening the station as a terminus.  The line was extended to South Tottenham in 1872 and Crouch Hill again became a through station.

In 1888, a new section of line was constructed to Gospel Oak, however the Kentish Town line was still the primary route and the section to Gospel Oak was abandoned in 1926.  The station continued to serve this line until, in 1981, as part of the works on the original Thameslink route, the Kentish Town line was closed and the route to Gospel Oak was reinstated, this route now forms part of the Gospel Oak to Barking Line (GOBLIN).
