History

Clapton station was opened by the Great Eastern Railway in July 1872 as part of it’s line extension to Hall Farm Junction, Walthamstow and further on to Chingford in later years which  forms the current Chingford branch.  The line through the station was electrified in the late 1950s, with electric services commencing on 12 November 1960.

Operation of the station passed from Abellio Greater Anglia to London Overground on 31 May 2015.
